ESNS is set to host the second edition of European Music Week, starting from 14 – 21 January 2022. European Music Week is a campaign created and launched by ESNS in 2021, with the aim to bringing European acts that would normally hit the stage, to the air.
With European Music Week, ESNS offers you the chance to participate in a themed, worldwide campaign next to other important media. The goal is to support all sorts of European music by giving audience and create awareness to their music for one week. Where radio stations, tv outlets or news media wouldn’t normally focus on airing just European music for a whole week; now is the time support these talented newcomers or long-time renowned acts in their second year of losing income and opportunities because of the ongoing regulations around the pandemic.
The campaign, recognisable by its hashtag #europeanmusicweek, has no boundaries as to the style, genre, or moment in time of the music. A few examples of last year’s launch are the successful campaigns of Paradiso, a famous Dutch pop venue that highlighted European talents throughout the week, or Dutch radio station NPO Radio 1 who invited 3FM DJ Vera Siemons to talk their audience through a musical journey. Besides that, ESNS teamed up with KEXP, an online radio station in Seattle, where they focused on European music every day during this week
Since the start of ESNS, spreading European music and talent has always been the focal point of the festival. Now more than ever, ESNS feels the need to call on its industry to help support European acts. Whether that is by playing Kraftwerk, Stromae, Rammstein, Rosalia, or Maneskin, curating an all-European playlist, or inviting a live act to the studio, joining this campaign creates exposure for the backbone of our industry: the artists.
“It’s time to start 2022 with a positive message for the live music industry and to build it back better. As it is our role to be the connecting factor between European artists, professionals, and companies, we hope to support those who need it most with this campaign. Let’s honour the rich history and future of European music, together”, states Robert Meijerink, Head of Program at ESNS.
A wide range of partners across the globe will be celebrating European music and new talent, by sharing their content with the hashtag #europeanmusicweek. Among these partners are: EBU stations across Europe (BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, NPO 3FM, BNR, ARD, RAI RADIO 2, RTÉ 2FM, LRT Opus, LUERSL 100.7, SRF, RTS, RADIO BELGRADE ONE, ERR Raadio 2), Spotify, Deezer, KEXP, Vice, European festivals, venues and other outlets.
